From our friendly and supportive staff to our student-focused and innovative campus, located only six minutes by train from the centre of Scotland’s vibrant capital city, there are lots of reasons to study at Queen Margaret University.
Our Business School provides high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate management courses which are responsive, dynamic and innovative in their delivery, coupled with a close student-tutor working relationship where students’ interests, aspirations and concerns are central to our activity.
Our approach to teaching and research in business-related subjects is distinctive in three ways:
- our commitment to providing the optimum balance of theoretical and practical approaches, with strong industry links, guest speakers across a range of modules and potential opportunities for placement and consultancy with firms

- our entrepreneurial focus. Our students benefit from the University’s Business Innovation Zone (which hosts student and graduate business start-ups) and on-campus business support services, and many go on to create their own businesses.
On top of this, our class sizes are smaller compared with many other universities, and this means you get more focused support and guidance from staff who want to get to know you, and your skills and personality.
Not only will subject-experts guide you as you engage with module content, but dedicated academic development input, supporting your growth in all areas of academic activity from critical reading to writing and giving effective presentations, will help you manage and demonstrate your learning at every step of the journey from the very first lecture right through to graduation.
Undergraduate students also have the opportunity to study abroad for a semester with placements available in the United States, Canada, Australia, Europe and Hong Kong.
We have achieved high levels of overall student satisfaction on our Business Management, Events Management, and International Hospitality and Tourism Management degrees, averaging 85% in the UK’s National Student Survey 2018 (NSS, 2018). That satisfaction also translates into success with 90% of our undergraduate leavers in employment or further training after six months (Unistats, 2018).
