Our English Academy offers several different programmes including General English, IELTS and A Level Preparation Course, and Academic English. We also offer the International Foundation Programme, which is designed for 17-19 year olds who would like to progress to university in the UK. Students will follow the Level 3 Access Programme, which is available in a range of subjects including Business, Applied Computing, Humanities, Law and Science. In addition to this, students will receive English tuition, which is tailored to the individual’s needs, ensuring students achieve the required level of English for successful progression to university.

A Levels are the most recognised school qualifications in the world and provide the best opportunity to progress to some of the finest universities world-wide. In 2021, international students at GCS achieved a 100% pass rate, with 73% A* – A. Over the last 5 years, over 90% have progressed to Russell Group universities, including Oxbridge, Imperial College London, UCL and London School of Economics. Gower College Swansea offers a number of University Preparation Programmes to support your admissions to the best universities in the UK. Our Oxbridge Preparation Programme has been running for more than two decades, providing students with the best possible preparation for acceptance to Oxford, Cambridge and other Russell Group universities. Students receive weekly tutorials and master classes, ensuring students have maximum success in their university admissions. Students will benefit from regular seminars delivered by University of Cambridge, as well as overnight visits to the University.

The most recent addition to our preparation programmes is the GCS Honours programme, which focuses on developing the critical analysis and independent study skills that are expected of University students. Through tutorial sessions, which begin in Year 12, this programme builds a foundation for students to thrive in the structure of degree study.

For students wishing to pursue a degree in medical science, veterinary science and pharmacy, the Medical Tutorial Programme provides weekly tutorials which focus on careers, work shadowing, guest speakers and applications to university. The College has strong links with local hospitals and other care providers with regular talks from consultants and GPs.

If you do not quite make the entry standard required for A Level, or you prefer more coursework elements than exams you might be better suited to our BTEC courses. These courses can provide you with the pathway to higher education and universities in the UK. The College runs many BTEC courses, which have proven to be popular with some of our International Students.
